Celebrating the Art of Sourdough

I just finished a batch of sourdough using a new starter I’ve been nurturing for over a month — the aroma while baking was incredible, and the crust has that perfect crackle. It’s amazing how something as simple as flour, water, and salt can transform into such a delightful loaf when traditional methods are employed. Has anyone else experimented with their sourdough techniques recently?

I totally agree on how the process elevates the dough; I’ve found that using a longer bulk fermentation really enhances the flavor. And don’t forget to keep an eye on your hydration levels — too much can make shaping tricky. Have you tried different flours for added depth?

After nurturing a starter for a while, I found that experimenting with a mix of bread flour and whole wheat really adds depth to the flavor. It’s amazing how those subtle differences can elevate your crust! Have you tried different flours yet, @liam_sourdough77?

Totally agree! I’ve found that using a sanitizing solution like bleach on my knives after every use really helps. How often do you disinfect your tools?

I’ve had success with a fold and stretch technique during bulk fermentation. It really helps develop gluten structure. Have you tried that?

Sounds amazing! I’ve noticed a huge difference in crust texture after letting my dough rest longer before baking. Have you tried it?
