When sourdough goes wrong

It happened again — my sourdough loaf turned into a pancake! I did everything right, or so I thought. Has anyone else experienced a dough disaster that left them laughing instead of crying? I’d love to hear your baking bloopers and what you learned from them.

Flops like that can be a real bummer! I’ve had my fair share of pancake loaves, too. I switched to using a kitchen scale and it really helped keep my dough precise — maybe give it a shot? What hydration level are you using for your sourdough?

Pancake loaves are the worst! I’ve had a few flatbreads myself, and they always seem to deflate right before the final rise. I started using a proofing basket to help shape my loaves better.
